"Broadway Big-Shots" were nominated for the title; including Norbert Leo Butz (who won), Christina
Applegate, Chita Rivera, Harvey Firstein, Patty LuPone, John Lloyd Young, and Cherry Jones (to whom
Ms. Turner lost the Tony award to). The choices for nominees were based on the actor's ability to work
with an ensemble, but stand out and must have been in a starring role. The actor had to be versatile,
and recognized.
